coastal fun

We are sure going to miss eating fresh pineapple till our tongues tingle, watching the sea turtles swim up to the rocks,
sipping lava flows, enjoying the breath taking views, and much more coastal adventures.

A week without doing my hair or putting make-up on.....Oh, I will miss it! After reading 2 books, sleeping till late, and soaking up all the sea air I can get, I think my batteries are fully charged!

We went through about 5 spray bottles of sunscreen! The sun is so intense. Cancer is covered!!

We (Scot and I ) started each day with an hour long walk along the coastal ravines. Sometimes stopping to have breakfast at the Honoloa store. Scot loves their authentic "Loco Moco". It is a dish of white rice with an egg over easy topped with brown gravy. Another favorite they have is the classic sausage, biscuits and white gravy.

By the time we got back the kids were just beginning to stir from their slumbering. We usually watched a movie before gathering our paraphernalia to go to the beach. Each day we ventured to a different beach. We had so much fun trying them all out. The older boys loved the big wave ones, while Olivia and Jack liked the snorkeling ones.

We sometimes hopped from beach to beach to accommodate everyone's needs.

We did find this fun area for cliff diving. Scot and the older kids including Olivia ventured to this while Jack and I went back to the unit. Upon the return from this venture Scot had quite a story to tell. While the boys went to make their jumps, he and Olivia got in and started snorkeling. He said it was so scary because the current was so strong. As they were swimming along all the sudden you would be taken out several feet and brought back in several feet in a matter of seconds. They noticed this happening and tried hard to get out at that point but it was too hard. They needed to swim back around the bend they had trailed around. Olivia by this point was starting to panic as was Scot. He told her that this was what they needed to to do. She turned around and was gone "Micheal Phelps Style"! He said, "I have never seen her swim so well and FAST"! They made it!!!

So this was how our days went most of the time.

These are the only two who were brave enough to try this. Scot said the instructor said "Now if the boat stalls or has a mechanical problem you will just land in the ocean and we will come by to pick you up." Uhh.....Scot's thought ( How will you come get us if the boat isn't working?) Hmmm..... luckily this wasn't the case for them. They had a wonderful time.

Joshua was usually hard to get a picture of. He was always under a wave! We could call him a sea shell getting churned by the waves. He loves getting smashed by them. You could see his head come up only to be plummeted again by the next one.

The best thing about the end of the day was that the kids were so tired! The beach wore them out. We could feed them dinner and leave for a night out. It is so nice having them old enough to do this!

Olivia was near tears today as we started to pack. WE both contemplated a way to stay longer.......nothing seemed to pan out. Hmmm...... we will be back soon!
