On Christmas Eve it has been our tradition to go get either Mexican or Asian food together. We chose Mexican this year after our sushi fiasco last year.
We then come home and open pj's from Mom and Dad, put them on, and read the Christmas story in Luke about our Savior's birth.
We will then watch a movie and/or play games.
Then off to bed so Santa can come!
Before going to bed that night we went over the plan for waking up on Christmas Morning. Jack was to wake up his siblings when he got up, come down to our room (that was implied?) and then we as a family will go see the gifts.
Santa isn't a phenomenon around our home anymore. Dang it, we are past that.
Well, around 8:30am. I woke to the sound of wrapping paper being crumpled!
What!? We (Scot and I ) ran out to find Jack full steam on his belly riding his NEW skateboard down the hall towards us!
Oh and he was working on a big old piece of chocolate in his mouth.
He explained, after we viewed his spot of gifts completely opened, that no one wanted to get up. Figured we wouldn't want to either. So.....continued on with his own ceremonial unwrapping!
I guess that's how it goes with the youngest child?
He was perfectly content.
It was quite a while till we could get anyone else up.
So Dad and Jack made French Beignets.
Just imagine the best crispy scone topped with powdered sugar followed by homemade honey from a neighbor! (yip, she has her own beehive and had honey processed into bottles)
Oh man they were so good!
Soon we had customers.
Olivia's big Christmas gift was to get her room re-done.
It's almost complete. Just a few things coming in the mail soon.
Posting to come shortly.
I realized that I didn't even get pics of Jess and Josh!
After a big breakfast and laying around all morning, Scot and I left the sleepy kids to see the awaited "LES MISERABLES".
What an incredible movie!
It lived up to our expectations and much more.
We came home after 3 hours to hungry kids.
Mom started in on making several pans of Grandma Aubrey's favorite chicken and broccoli crepes for all to devour.
Grandma and Grandpa Porter came just in time for some hot out of the oven...... and then cousins, uncles, and aunts followed for dessert/games.
Did I mention we like to play games?
So many Christmas Memories to cherish!
It was one of the best days of the year!
Happy NEW YEAR!!
