The "Truth" Fairy

Our little man Jack has finally lost his first tooth. Let me clarify, his first tooth lost by natural causes. A few years back he lost a tooth, root and some bone to an unforgiving coffee table meeting head on with his face.

For a few weeks his lower front tooth has been "jiggly" and we have been waiting for it to fall right out. Laying in bed with him the other night he was concerned about it falling out during the night. I said it was no big deal, he would just swallow it. A confused look came over his face as he asked what would happen if he swallowed it. I told him it was just like eating food and he would just poop it out in the next day or two. He asked "What if I pee it out instead?" I responded, "That would be very painful." Real words of comfort.

A day or two later he lost the tooth, followed last night by a second. What a cute smile. After discovering the tooth fairy had payed him a visit, he questioned the existence of such a magical, mystical creature who delivers cold hard cash in exchange for an old tooth. He keeps pressing me on whether the tooth fairy is real or not, and if it is real, am I him. The truth, I'll never tell!
