These last few weeks of summer flew by.
Girls camp was top notch. I felt like this year was much more relaxing because I knew what to expect. We had some wonderful leaders who spent so much of their time and energy to make it great. The food was divine ( I think 5 lbs. divine). The YCL's were the biggest group we've had! 70! They were amazing singing with us "Party in the USA" to Sis. Wrigley's rendition. The entire camp was feeling the energy by the last night. It was a huge hit. I am sure someone got this lovely number on tape and will be available to see soon. We had Katie Christensen as our photographer taking pics everywhere. Haven't had a chance to view those gems yet. I will share when I do.
I flew home from camp and 20 mins. later I was in the car with the family driving to Utah. I spent the week with the kids at the cabin in Midway while Scot returned to work. We did Lagoon, Kamis rec. center, hibernated one entire day while it rained watching red-box movies, ran into "THE STORE" just about everyday for a treat, road the alpine coaster in Park City, feed the ducks, slept in till late, and reclined on the fresh cut Utah turf. It was a wonderful week just "us".
Scot and Josh Perkins flew up Friday that week. Josh is a good friend of the boys who was coming up to go to EFY with them that Monday. Dan and Sarah drove up that day from California and were with us till we left the next Friday. So we enjoyed the weekend all together. The demolition derby was a highlight. With front row seating you felt like the cars were going to hit you! Some almost did! That night ended with the most elaborate fireworks I have seen in a long time. A very good show.
Monday we dropped the 3 boys off at EFY for the week. I had a little bit of a hard time dropping Joshua since he wasn't rooming with anyone he knew. Jess and his friend Josh were in a different building and different group the entire time. Joshua seemed to be just fine. In fact, on day 3 he told me to stop texting him to check up. "HE was just great"! They all had an amazing experience. Much to Jess thinking it was going to be the most boring thing ever. He said it was one of his best weeks! "It's like pure freedom". Not sure what he meant by that? I am pretty sure they have rules. Hmm...... All in all they loved every minute of it. They have been on facebook all day talking to their new found friends from all over the country. I think females are included.......though they won't say.
After dropping the boys off we (Scot, Olivia, and Jack) spent the rest of the afternoon with the Covey's at Thanksgiving Pointe. It was such fun to see them again after many years. Sarah is like my sister I never had. Love her!
Then we moved on to Grandma's house to drop the younger 2 off while Scot and I headed off for a few days of catch-up (Who are you?). We shopped, ate yummy food, hiked Sundance, and went to several movies. It was much needed togetherness. A perfect end to the summer fun.
Looking forward to the upcoming days of preparation for school starting. I love getting back to routines. The home cooked meals, scripture reading sessions, early bed times, and exercise regiments that help get those summer lbs. back to healthy levels!!!
