Olivia was invited by her cello teacher to play in a recital for a retirement home. What a great experience this was to not only play with others who have been playing for years but to play for these cute little old folks. Some were singing along without even being asked and some were talking and snoring without being asked! They were all in their seats about 30 mins. before it began with smiles and their best duds on. This was definitely the highlight of their week, maybe even month! She wasn't quite sure about just sitting through some of the songs that the older cellists were playing. So at the end of the performance I said "Hey it looks like you new all the songs after all" and she just smiled and laughed. She said "I faked it". Pretty good acting if you ask me. I couldn't even tell! I think she loved it!
Joshua came home on Tuesday from school and said that he was singing at the Wilson's home that night. Never once mentioned it before......(this was the night of our annual Christmas enrichment). He was coupled with 2 other boys, thank heavens! I can barely get him to sing with me in church. He did a wonderful job. Who knows, it may be the first of many.
Joshua has a nack of not letting his parents in on special events. Especially ones that he is involved in!
He came home from school today and said nonchalantly "I took 4th in the spelling B".
Wow wish I could have been there for that! He acts like he just went to school like he always does and was asked to spell some words. No fan fare. That's the way he likes it. Well, MOM really would have like to get a picture of the whole EVENT!!!!! Maybe that is why. Hmmm..... It reminded me of the year Jess came home early from school one day. He walked through the door and said that he got to get out early because the kids were graduating from elementary school to junior high. I looked at him and said," well aren't you graduating!" Yah, but it's no big deal, Mom." he said.
Oh well. I am already getting way more info out of Olivia than I ever got from these cute boys.
