STK. YW in Excellence Night

This night was many months in the works. We decided that since it was the 140th celebration of the Young Women program this year we would give all our wards a break and do the Excellence night. What a huge success! We had all the yw and their mothers come and enjoy a 45 min. program of drama, music, and great speakers. Some of the program was devoted to reminiscing about years past. What fun it was to hear all the "gasps" when our special choir sang "Rising Generation". That was the song put out by the church for "my day". If any of you remember the balloon launching that went with that? Anyways, we had a great time celebrating the years past and even our modern day we have now. We decided to do a candy "bar" for refreshments. The girls had a blast picking out their own candy and placing it in this cute bag above.

Each candy represented a value color.



Our awesome Youth Council girls did all the decor! Aren't they amazing!? I didn't get a shot of all the tables we had along the walls that each (10) ward had for their girls to display projects on. At the end of the program the girls and mothers wandered around to each admiring the creative displays.




One of the girls in the stake designed all the invitations and format we used for all our signs. The great thing is that she counted it as one of her projects. Always looking for ways to use the girls in all that we do.
When we went to our training in SL Sister Dalton stressed the importance of utilizing the youth in our events. Yes, we can do it all.....but, so much more happens in their lives when we shadow them in this effort. We have seen this over and over. Much growth.


This was us today at Paridise Bakery for lunch celebrating and giving closure to our hard labors. We really tried not to talk about YW's and we were fairly successful. Instead we just laughed and laughed about whatever. (We were making a scene :) I just love these girls!
