Conference weekends are always something we look forward to here.
Jack says that he loves it because he doesn't have to get dressed up. Olivia likes it for the same reasons Jess and Josh do......"we get to sleep in". (Our block starts at 8 am.) I enjoy getting some time to cook a full course meal, not just our traditional OMELETS we do every week. Although we do enjoy those omelets. And Scot enjoys lounging with every blanket we own pretending that he is fully awake during every talk. Hmmmmm.......
No meetings! But, the best part truly is the messages that we get to hear! I love it. I always want to be better, do better, live better, and become better..... after listening to our leaders give prophetic council. I believe we need this regrouping of our efforts every 6 months. Scot and I were talking today about the messages and how they really aren't anything we haven't already heard just principles being retaught over and over. What is it with us? We do a lot of things over and over. *Temple ordinances *taking the Sacrament *paying tithe *roundtable *Visiting Teaching/ Home teaching ...and on and on. Do we live in such a "Natural Man" state that we need so desperately to have this engrained over and over into our beings for protection from the evil one? YES! we do..... I loved Sister Dibb's talk about holding fast to the ROD of IRON. I loved the visual I got. She is amazing. Love her! I loved so many others too. Elder Bednar made me feel good when he mentioned the perfect FHE.....ha.:) You know we do get frustrated when we think our children aren't absorbing all the lessons we are preparing or every minute teaching. But, he is so right, what they will remember is the consistency. I need to remember that when all I feel like I do is put fires out during scripture study or FHE. That is what I remember most from my family is the CONSISTENCY and the fact that we did it. Lots of good things to absorb. President Monson's "warm fuzzy jar" was too cute. Who would have thought of that? A good latter-day-saint. :)
Scot is making his famous Chocolate Chip cookies and they are hot out of the oven! Time to devour.

Denise, what a fun blog! You have such a wonderful family. Thanks for being so inspiring!
Love you guys!
amen to that. I love conference weekend.
I think scot needs to post his choc chip cookie recipe. As a matter of fact, YOU should start a cooking blog. I forget what a good cook you are since right now I'm trying to soak up your good decorating style.
I got my floor in today. I love it except for one tile. Man, I am such a pain to work with. This poor guy installing the floor was really rolling his eyes at me.
