catching up.....with spring

Spring Break was pretty mellow around here.  We planned to do a "stay-cation".  Scot promised to take time off work and really do it right.  Jess had planned a California trip with some friends, and Olivia went with Jolley's to LaJolla.  So it was just Josh and Jack with us.
QUIET.
The weekend was super cold and rainy, so we watched movies, and cooked up some comfort foods.

Raspberry cookies:  Mmmmmm good.  Full of plump fresh raspberries.  So easy!

I made some croutons to go in our soup.

Tuscan Italian Soup was requested by Scot.

By Monday it was beginning to warm up and Jack, Josh,  and Dad decided to hit the course.
I stayed back and sat in my adirondack chair and read a new book.

Every morning (or should I say early afternoon) Scot and I went for long walks.
Then we'd come back shower and head to lunch.  We ate out at all our favorites and watched and read our favorite things.

The trees were just blossoming.  So gorgeous!

In addition to enjoying ourselves we got much accomplished with spring cleaning in mind.
Scot helped me take the slip-covers off the furniture and we washed it all.  Cleaned lights, organized closets, and got rid of a few clothes.  Isn't that what spring is all about?  Re-freshing our homes.

As soon as Spring Break was over the week hit us hard.  Maybe it's that we go from not being scheduled to now everything is scheduled again.  I think too that every organization in the church decides to do their events that week following.  Everyone is back.  We all want to get our activities in before the May Mayhem starts.  Needless to say it was a very full week.
Here are just a few things that made the blog.

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day:
We made sure that we represented this holiday well this year.  Green Pancakes and Lucky Charms for breakfast, and a full-on St. Patty's dinner done up by Scot.
Scot has really been discovering BEETS.  He is quite the connoisseur of them.
He roasted several kinds.

Doesn't it look like a murder scene!

They are so full of antioxidants.
If they stain your skin can you image what your veins look like!
He made this amazing beet salad by adding feta, balsamic vinager, and candied pecans!
He also made 2 shephards pies.  One meatless for me.
shhh....(I actually liked the meat one better).
But both were so good.

Pinewood Derby: (our last one ever!)
Jack and his good friend Cannon.  Getting ready to race their Derby Cars.

Jack took 7th out of 23.  Dad and Jack seemed happy enough.
His friend Luke on the left won EVERY race!  Took First Place!
He looks pretty happy.

Wedding Shower/spring flowers:
Hosted a wedding shower for my good friend Teresa's daughter.  I always include fresh flowers and get to enjoy the spoils when it's over.

These hydrangeas got planted in my courtyard.

This is the time of year I look forward to.  Did the pictures give it away?

I love those succulants.

PRIMARY TIMES:
We gathered our primary children and did a "FARMERS MARKET" in the park.
Everyone was invited to dress as farmers.
Our dear Bishop just loves these little ones!
He's telling them how they need to take care of their spirits just like you would a fruit tree.
How we are all farmers in the vineyard.

We had several "fruit" stations that the kids would rotate through.
Each was a different game with fruit.

Fruit chuck'in was the favorite station.

......And the grape spitting contest.
Don't you love the grape mid-air!  Ha.

So that brings us up to date!
It's been an event filled week or two.
Good times.
I feel so blessed to be a part of so many lives.
