It happens every year.......we get so swamped with all the end of the year concerts, projects, field trips, parties, weddings, graduation hoopla, etc.......that by the time school is out we just crash!!! Phewwww......another school year has come to a close.
We are all looking forward to a little less rigorous schedule. Funny though, by the time summer comes to an end we are ready for that schedule yet again.
Someone wrote this on the board this morning. Probably Jess, Josh, or Jack. Olivia has surprised us with being a bit teary. She is not only moving on from Elementary but moving to a different JR. high.
Her choice.
She recently was a part of a District Honors Orchestra that the Highland High School orchestra teacher directed. She fell in love with the idea that she could work with him for 2 years prior to getting to high school. She would need to go to the JR. high that feeds into the high school where he will be. So we put in our boundary exemption papers and she was accepted! She is so happy! Though, I don't think she realized how much she was going to miss all of her friends. Most of them she will see again in 2 yrs.
I happened to be at the school this morning dropping off some teacher gifts. By the look of the students faces (6th graders mainly..Olivia included) you would have thought someone had died! I actually couldn't figure it out at first. (Me, the excited one moving into summer....) "Oh, I get it now". Liv was saying goodbye to not only her friends but many teachers that she was so close to over the years. Her chapter closed.
As Jack unloaded his packpack yet again this week with all the cubby supplies and papers, I couldn't help but take a pic of his school box. It says it all. Well used, down to the last nubbins! So much work accomplished. Thanks to those crayons, pens, markers, and papers. The teacher could be put right in there too, though I hope she isn't as worn. Something tells me she is.
Thanks MRS. QUIGLEY! We love you!
I picked up Jess today after his last final and he got in the car with this comment..."thanks to my insane test taking abilities I aced yet another final". I wondered at that moment if we could get his "insane test taking skills" to work into his homework skills?
Jess and Josh are signed up for summer school. Jess wanted to knock out an American history class that is supposed to be much less reading in the summer school version. Josh wanted to knock out a computer class and be able to still keep his lunch/ social hour intact.
Looking forward to the next few weeks of summer fun! Bye school year........
